The story of SURF's Founder now available

20 January 2010

You Alone May LiveWe are very pleased to help promote a new book by the founder and former director of Survivors Fund (SURF). Entitled You Alone May Live, this soon to be released publication is the story of Mary K. Blewitt, OBE, and how she dealt with the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. Of Rwandan origin, Mary Blewitt returned to Rwanda immediately following the 1994 genocide to find that she had lost 50 members of her family.

About Mary Blewitt and SURF

Upon her return to the UK, Mary set up Survivors Fund to help survivors of the genocide. Over the course of 10 long years, Mary spent countless hours working to raise awareness of and support for orphaned children and widows. Although the plight of survivors continues to be a real issue of need and concern, Mary’s feats and accomplishments are nothing short of Herculean.

At lbdesign, we consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to work so closely with Mary Blewitt over the past seven years. In fact, our very first web project in the UK was to rebuild the SURF website, which we have since rebuilt again to match the expansion of SURF itself. Our Director, Liam Dempsey, considers SURF’s book of survivors’ testimonies the single-most important project that lbdesign has ever taken on.
