A new conference for women in tech in Philadelphia has been gathering attention in recent weeks. ELA Conf will commence with a meet and greet and lightning talks followed by a full day of talks, workshops, and panels on Saturday.
As a designer and front-end developer, Lauren Pittenger is quickly becoming a regular on the public speaking circuit. Having just started in 2015, Lauren has already spoken at three WordCamps. She is quickly building a name for herself as an intelligent, articulate and approachable web professional.
On this upcoming Halloween, Lauren Pittenger will present a talk at WordCamp NYC about using the command line to improve efficiencies when making websites. Committed to sharing her own knowledge and experience to help web designers improve their skill set, Lauren’s session is entitled Intro to the Command Line for Designers.
We were delighted to attend the official launch of Villanova University School of Law’s new Institute to Address Commercial Sexual Exploitation last night. The formal affair was an opportunity to officially introduce the CSE Institute to the world and for the CSE Institute to thank its donors and supporters.
After attending and presenting at her first WordCamp in Philly in June, Lauren Pittenger attended and delivered another talk at her second WordCamp in Scranton. In July, on the campus of Johnson College, Lauren gave a presentation entitled “Birthing a Child Theme.”
This past weekend, Scranton, Pennsylvania held its first ever WordCamp. Organized by Joe Casabona and Phil Erb, the WordPress-focused event was equal parts fun and educational. Given that we use WordPress as our sole platform for building websites, we are delighted when we can give back to the community that surrounds the open source software.
We are delighted to report that, by all accounts, WordCamp Philly 2015 was a resounding success. The attendees, speakers, volunteers and sponsors all shared wonderful feedback about the quality, professionalism and friendly atmosphere of Philadelphia’s leading yearly WordPress conference.
Later this week, our own Liam Dempsey will be giving the second webinar in a five-part series entitled Effective Website Strategies for Non-Profits. The series is being offered and hosted by Tech Impact, a nationally-focused nonprofit that delivers IT solutions and cloud services to charities and nonprofits.
Now in its fourth year, the Philly Women in Technology Summit provided a powerful connection between supporting women who are currently working in technology and supporting adolescent girls who want to enter the industry. As the main fundraiser for TechGirlz, the summit raised $35,000 for this local nonprofit dedicated to reducing the gender gap in technology…
