WordCamps and Meetups

As active members of the WordPress community, we greatly enjoy and take much value from contributing back to the open source project. Over the years, both Liam Dempsey and Lauren Pittenger have been heavily involved in organizing, presenting at and attending a great many WordCamps and WordPress Meetups.

Organizing and Attending WordCamps

As of early 2019, we have collectively been on the organizing teams for nine WordCamps and attended over two dozen in at least four states.

Liam was on the organizing team for WordCamp Philly in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 as well as for the largest WordCamp ever, WordCamp US in 2015 and 2016.

Lauren has had the pleasure of helping organize WordCamp Lancaster in 2016 and 2017 and WordCamp Philly in 2018.

Speaking and Presentations

Sharing our knowledge with the community is an act we find great value in. We enjoy speaking at conferences and meetups about topics within our industry from web development to marketing to design and beyond. To see a list of upcoming speaking engagements, head on over to our speaking and presentations page.

Running a WordPress Meetup Group

Since 2012, Liam has run a WordPress Meetup group in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Aptly named the Philly ‘burbs WordPress Meetup Group, Liam has seen the group grow to over 690 members. Rotating between four locations in Philly’s western suburbs, the group discusses topics relating to WordPress and the web at large.

Often described as one of the best WordPress Meetup groups, Liam has taken great care to cultivate a very welcoming environment for those new to WordPress and for those with much experience. Featured on Joe Casabona’s How I Built It podcast, Liam shared his approach to and experience with building a local community.
