Survivors Fund (SURF)

Survivors Fund (SURF) has been fighting for the rights and well-being of survivors of the Rwandan genocide since 1997. Based in the UK and Rwanda, SURF supports survivors directly through programs focussed on education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and more. It also works with local survivor-led organizations in Rwanda.

We’ve been privileged to work with and support SURF since 2003 when Liam first met its founder, Mary Kayitesi Blewitt. Earlier this year we were delighted with the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with SURF on the design and production of a new WordPress-driven website. We launched the new site in June of 2017.

July 2017 marks the 23rd anniversary of the ending of the genocide in which approximately 800,000 men, women and children were killed. It marks the end of a rape campaign in which more than 250,000 women were raped, many by men who were known to be infected with HIV. Thankfully, the genocide is over. Yet the needs of survivors still remain.

It is a real pleasure working with LBDesign. The development of our website was a true collaboration, with LBDesign realising perfectly our vision of a more dynamic website that we could manage. The team’s ongoing input into the drafting of our annual reports, brilliantly showcases our work through a simple but visually striking design. Our projects with Liam and Lauren are always delivered on time and to the very highest standard. I could not recommend them more highly.
