We are excited to share that both Liam Dempsey and Lauren Pittenger will present to the WordPress DC Meetup later this month. Lauren and Liam will travel to our nation’s capital on June 21st to share their experiences on learning and being confident in interpersonal communication.
Lauren’s Talk: A Single <div>: A Learning Experiment
Building something that already exists is a great way to gain new skills and refine old skills. When Lauren tried to recreate Lynn Fisher’s Single Div project last year, she learned two very important lessons: (1) having a solid foundation of the basics is invaluable and (2) it is perfectly acceptable to look something up when learning new skills.
Liam’s Talk: Outgoing on Command
Learning to be comfortable speaking in public, in both formal and informal settings, is an important life and professional skill. You can be “outgoing on command,” especially with support from the WordPress community.
Liam has worked by himself from home since 2005. Working alone, outside of the company of others, Liam isn’t eager to join a co-working space. Yet, he started a WordPress Meetup and organizes WordCamps. He regularly gives professional talks on WordPress and online marketing.
