We recently had the pleasure of designing and developing a new website for the Seismological Society of America. The Seismological Society of America, SSA, was eager to better connect with its members via its own website, and for its site to be a more versatile platform for attracting new members. Under the leadership of our friends and colleagues at Tadpole Collective, we designed and built a new custom WordPress theme for SSA.
The SSA
With a history spanning more than 100 years, the Seismological Society of America was created following the devastation of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Since engineers, mathematicians, and geologists began working together to learn more about that terrible event, SSA has been committed to the science of seismology and sharing research with the public to increase earthquake-awareness.
Project Overview
Earlier this year, our friends and colleagues at Tadpole Collective asked us to work on creating a new custom WordPress theme for SSA. Tadpole Collective specializes in WordPress and CiviCRM integration, empowering nonprofits and small businesses to publish, promote and organize with open source software. Under Tadpole Collective’s leadership, we designed and developed a new look and feel for SSA – a custom solution that enables the society to better serve its members and the broader community.
Building Connections
The new WordPress theme featured a completely revamped look and feel. We applied a fresh design over a restructured sitemap, aimed at making the flow of the site more intuitive. Those new designs gave SSA more ways to highlight upcoming events, exciting news, and key offerings – avenues for connecting with its membership and the wider scientific community.
