As we recover from the amazing event that was WordCamp US 2015, we want to take a moment to share a few thoughts and details from the biggest WordPress conference ever held. Running on the first weekend in December, WordCamp US saw WordPress fans from all over the world descend on Philadelphia to celebrate, support and grow the open source project.
The Art of Minimalist Design
Continuing her amazing run of talks at conferences this year, Lauren Pittenger gave a talk to a packed room about minimalist design and the value it can bring to web design projects. Over the course of her presentation, Lauren offered a definition of minimalism, explained its history, and detailed how to integrate the ethos into web design projects.

When Lauren was not giving her own talk, she served as a volunteer, helping the many attendees enjoy the event.
Serving the WordPress Community
As an open source project, WordPress is successful because so many talented, generous people donate fantastic amounts of time and energy to make it so. Liam Dempsey considers himself very privileged to have served as part of the organizing team for WordCamp US. It was admittedly a significant of work to help pull off what is widely reported as a hugely successful event with somewhere in the area of 2,000 attendees, but it was worth it for sure. To see so many people, from all walks of life, coming together to make WordPress better was really quite thrilling.
